examples of our work
We were called out to this Gloworm Flexicom 30cx the customer informed us they had no heating or hot water. On arrival to the property, the engineer noticed there was an F22 fault code appearing on the boiler this indicates low water pressure.
On further investigation, the pressure gauge on the boiler was checked and was reading the correct pressure of 1.5 bar.
Using our engineering experience, we could determine there was a problem with the water pressure sensor inside the boiler so we proceeded to safely isolate the boiler, drain down all water from the appliance then remove the water pressure sensor and on inspection, it was clear the sensor was blocked by debris from the heating system.
The part was thoroughly cleaned and replaced. The boiler was re-pressurised and when switched back on was working perfectly again.
This complete repair was carried out for only £60
The customer was then advised on some measures that can be taken to help prevent a situation like this occurring again. In this case, a chemical flush to clean out debris from the system and magnetic filter to protect the boiler are both wise options.
This customer had an issue with a leak on his boiler and also was complaining that when someone in the property was having a shower the heating would come on at the same time even though there was no demand for heating set on the timer.
This can be an indication that there is an issue with the diverter valve inside the boiler. The diverter valve directs hot water to either your heating side known as the primary hot water or to your taps known as your secondary or domestic hot water (DHW) these two never mix they are separate.
On closer inspection from our engineer, it was established that there was indeed a fault with the diverter valve and the water pressure sensor was also damaged. Both these components were replaced and the boiler was back performing properly again in no time.
Here we attended this boiler break down where the customer complained of no heating or hot water. On arrival, it was clear there was an issue. When the boiler was switched on the fan inside the boiler that helps removed flue gasses from inside the combustion chamber was continually running. There were also other components running like the central heating pump but the boiler was not igniting.
Once the engineer removed the boiler casing and inspected the electrical circuit it was apparent there was an issue with the printed circuit board (PCB). The PCB is like the electrical brain of the boiler it sends out electrical signals to the different components and allows them to operate in the correct sequence and to function safely.
The issue arose because the customer had tried to fit external controls to the appliance by himself and had wired the room thermostat the wrong way. 240 volts had been wired in instead of the correct 24 volts. This caused the PCB to blow.
We replaced the PCB for him and wired in the correct room thermostat and the boiler was back working perfectly again.
Please remember when working on gas or electrics to always use a competent and qualified person.
